It Sucks To Be Me...
My brother, normal healthy high schooler that he is, actually has friends at his school who he gets to pal around with, so he spends his weekends doing normal happy teenager stuff that I never got to do.  The Maritimers are getting ready to leave for another three weeks in Bermuda.   I am a twenty-three year old stuck at my parents house hoping somebody who needs filing done will call me for a job, unable to escape "Two and a Half Men," which Mom and Dad are convinced is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  An ant bit me on my big toe yesterday, right where the side of the nail meets the fold of skin, so now my toe itches and stings.  Chorale music selection has some god-awful duds.  I have no friends in town.  And my parents are nagging me to unpack and get settled.  I hate my life.

I'm sorry :( I totally understand how living at home sucks. I know that something will come through, though! If you need a few days away, you're always welcome to crash at my place. Maybe there's a good show playing at the Carolina Theater or UNCG sometime soon.

You, child, seriously need to get out of the house. I get that life right now is not great, but it’s not going to get any better by sitting around waiting for a job or social life to come knocking on the door. You have a college degree and experience doing clerical work. Maybe you can file with a temp agency. Check the classified ads and the yellow pages. They’ll help you find a job and the best part is it’s temporary so that you can move on to other companies and get a variety of experience. Beats flipping burgers. A job will help because it will get you out of the house and allow you to make friends with your coworkers.
I lived at home for a bit between Chapel Hill and Averett when I was going through that rough time and taking classes at CPCC. I really needed to be at home, and be around my family because I had such a hard time adjusting to life at college. That said, it was still hard to be at home when you’ve enjoyed the freedom to do whatever you please whenever you want. It was hard trying to convince my mom that it’s normal to go out after 10pm to get Taco Bell. Your situation is different. You’re living at home not because you need to be at home, but because you don’t have anywhere else to go right now.
I want you to consider something. When you get a job (and you will, it’s just going to take a little bit of time) you should think about putting some of that money aside and saving up so you can get a place of your own. No one should be shoved up in the laundry room of her parents’ house. See if you can work up to bringing in enough money that you can afford a little apartment of your own. It will make a world of difference if you can have a place that’s totally your own. You’ll feel a lot better.

THanks for being patient, y'all. Friday was just a bad funk because I realized everybody was in Bermuda. Being busy does help, I know.
